The story follows Aleck, the frustrated but charismatic son of a coal miner, who long ago outgrew the bounds of what White Ash had to offer.  Spurning a generational calling to work in the mine, Aleck’s been counting down the hours till he can get the hell out of town and head off to college.

But as the long awaited day of liberation arrives, and Aleck packs his car for Carnegie Mellon, disaster strikes.

The accident at the mine keeps Aleck in town for three more life-changing days. During which he sparks up a romance with the enigmatic Lillian Alden.

Unfortunately Lillian's father Thane owns the coal mine (and pretty much the rest of White Ash) and under no circumstances would he ever approve the union of his daughter to the son of a miner.

Aleck and Lillian's forbidden flirtation turns dangerous when Aleck uncovers a secret about his family that changes everything he knows about himself, the people around him and the town of White Ash.

Furthermore, if Aleck leaves, there will be no one left to protect the people of White Ash from an ancient evil that’s beginning to return.  And we're only getting started. There are so many, many more surprises in store and we can’t wait to share them with you.
